NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

Under this stage of the roadmap in England pubs can only open outdoor areas and many will only be open for customers who have pre-booked. Alcohol can now also be sold for takeaway, as well as delivery.

But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Club

Founded in 1897 for the Protection, Encouragement and Development of Automobilism. The present flamboyant French-facade building is on the site of the old War Office and was completed in 1911 by the architects of the Ritz, Mewes and Davis; a small army of French craftsmen were employed in its construction. The royal accolade was awarded by Edward VII, a keen early motorist and of course the prime mover in the Entente Cordiale with France.

Clubhouse facilities include Turkish baths renovated in 2003/4, a spectacular Byzantine-style indoor swimming pool containing 90 thousand gallons, and a small Post Office.

The traitors Burgess and Maclean chose this as the venue for their last lunch together before defecting to Moscow! Nowadays, the club has a wide membership of many thousands. It should not be confused with the RAC automotive services company it formerly owned.

Various bars are available to members and their guests and the Long Bar in particular sells Real Ale. And if you are lucky enough to eat here, reports suggest that the food and service are of a high standard.
