NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
A nationwide lockdown is currently in place in England, and you are required by law to stay at home. Hospitality venues can still provide food takeaway and delivery services, but can only sell alcohol by delivery service.
But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.
If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Pub
Previously the Truscott Arms, this site reopened as a high-end gastropub under a new name, The Hero of Maida, in May 2018. The pub is now freehold as opposed to paying a large rental (the cause of the Truscott's demise) and is operated by Maida Vale Leisure.
The pub is split across two floors and features a zinc-topped bar downstairs, with original ceiling roses, oak floors and expansive windows to give a light and airy feel. The upstairs dining area has been substantially refurbished with no expense spared; there is also a decked, two-tiered garden.
Food is supervised by Henry Harris (chef owner), formerly of Racine. Alongside daily changing menus with a French influence, the Sunday roast menu is being reinstated at the pub with classics such as slow-roasted shoulder of lamb and rosemary. There is a main dining room plus three smaller ones that can be booked. The Times' restaurant critic, Giles Coren, maintains that the Hero's chips are the best in London.
Placed within the Top 50 in the Estrella Damm 2019 national gastropubs awards.
Note that under the terms of the licence alcohol may not be sold before noon.
Historic Interest
The pub was originally built in 1878 as the Shirland Hotel. Sir John Stuart, made Count of Maida, was a lieutenant-general in the Napoleonic Wars and won a victory over a slightly larger French force outside the town of Maida in Calabria, Italy. Maida Hill and Maida Vale are also named after the battle, as well as this pub.
