NOTICE: Venues need your support more than ever during the ongoing coronavirus crisis.

A nationwide lockdown is currently in place in England, and you are required by law to stay at home. Hospitality venues can still provide food takeaway and delivery services, but can only sell alcohol by delivery service.

But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.

If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

After the pub was forced to close on 30th December 2020, due to new Covid restrictions, cask beer was available as takeaway, presumably to empty the tapped casks. Takeaway is no longer permitted for alcoholic drinks under National Lockdown, so unless deliveries are being offered, this service will have ceased. See Facebook page for details.

Takeaway food options were available during December and may be available still, now the pub has had to close under National Lockdown - ring the pub for details.

Timothy Taylor

About the Pub

The Devonshire is a popular stone-built hotel off the cobbled square, dating largely from the 18th century. It was purchased by Timothy Taylor in early September 2015. Despite the open-plan layout, attractive flagged floors, open fires and wooden beamed ceilings give the bar area a traditional feel. There is a separate dining area and the cosy back bar area has wing-backed armchairs. Old photos of the local area line the walls. The northern section originally comprised a large arch giving access to the rear yard. This section was converted to form additional residential accommodation shortly before the 2nd World War. New tenants moved in January 2019.
