About the Pub

Oct 2020 - being refurbished and sign now says the Baring (old name coming back???). The Poet appears to be about to revert to its proper name, The Baring.

Report Apr 2019 - "Cycled by the other day and there's a name change to "The Poet" - as a consequence all the info listed here may now be out of date. Especially opening hours as their website is silent on this point.

Local authority listed, imposing, cosy back street corner pub. Worth seeking out. The pub underwent a full refurbishment a few years ago, including repairs to damage inflicted by the Luftwaffe! Background music is just that. Close for the Regent's canal and former Gainsborough film studios. Artwork around bar is by a local artist and is for sale. Food: homemade pub food all day noon to 10pm. Nearest tube for some will be Angel. Pub shows all sports on big HD screens and they have several sports teams - cricket, football, softball and are always looking for new players!!
