About the Pub

This pub, which is over 400 years old, was formerly the Crown and Treaty House. It was named after the attempt by Charles I and Parliament to reach agreement in 1645. The only branch pub with a Grade II* listing. There are two function rooms upstairs, see pictures.

Historic Interest

Grade II* listing:- 1576, much restored. South-East front of 2 storeys, 5 windows, the 2nd and 4th in full height canted bays. Red brick laid in English bond, with stone coped parapet. Brick mullions and transoms to windows with modern leaded casements. Modern pointing conceals the quality of the brickwork. High pitched roof with tiles renewed. Reproduction central door in wood porch. 2-storey left extension probably C18. Road end has Dutch gable and early C18 3-light sash window.
