A nationwide lockdown is currently in place in England, and you are required by law to stay at home. Hospitality venues can still provide food takeaway and delivery services, but can only sell alcohol by delivery service.
But please be aware that opening hours and services may be different to those displayed here. Before visiting or ordering from any venue, we strongly advise you to check its website or social media, or get in touch with them first to avoid disappointment.
If you see any details here that need updating, please let us know by submitting feedback on the pub.

About the Pub
Note correct address, although pub describes it as Ball Court, 38 1/2 Cornhill. Two bars, ground floor and basement. Lunchtime food. The pub was founded by Thomas Simpson in 1757 and is currently owned by E.J. Rose but was for sale as was the Jamaica Wine House.
Historic Interest
Grade II listing:- Includes No 38 1/2 Cornhill. Early C18 or possibly late C17 pair of houses. 4 storeys each 3 windows. Red brick with band below top storey and parapet to roof. Pilastered shop front with cornice and pediments, probably later C19. Passage beneath No 5 to Ball Court. Rear elevation of painted brick with segmental arches and altered roof. Simpson's Tavern has 2 storeyed wing along west side of court with short return over passage at far end. Plain, painted brick. Shop front similar to Castle Court but incorporating shallow bow windows etc and probably in part of late C18/early C19 date. Some later C19 decorated glass and gas lamp on cast iron bracket. Interesting as an example of a city tavern.
