About the Pub

Three-storey Victorian public house on prominent corner site. White plaster to upper floors with stone quoins and pained ground floor with original wooden window openings. Very nicely proportion grouped casement windows to first floor. A very well preserved Victorian local pub.

New operator, Ginger Jones, commenced trading in December 2016. This small pub chain operates the Duke E17, the Lion N16, Lord Morpeth E3 and Black Horse SE8. There are 12 keg taps. Draught products remain tied. . Keg is contemporary craft including Meantime, Fullers, Guinness, Adnams Craft.

The interior is Anticesque in appearance with some cosy sofas and bench seating. Recorded music is normally playing but not obtrusively loud. Various Tiger and beer themed memorabilia adornes the walls. After several years with no cask, this refurbishment and relaunch is a very welcome addition to the E9 pub scene.

Closed for around 12 months when Enterprise Inns took posession after rumoured rental dispute. External refurbishment took place 2015 and 2016.
